australia

Leah has gone to australia for 5 weeks.  She left on boxing day and after a long time on the plane got there safe and sound :)   Leah’s mum text us yesterday afternoon to say happy new year cos they seemed to have new year before us, we were in B and Q at the time. I will be going and making sure Leah’s house is okay in a bit and opening the curtains we shut last night!  Happy holidays Leah!

Happy Birthday to Leah!

To celebrate Leah’s birth 9 years ago, we had the function room at the farmhouse last night and ate, drank and made merry! It’s all set up as Santa’s grotto at the moment so it was all glittery and sparkly and snowy. Sue and Baz, Emma’s lovely parents, bought Leah this keyboard which was a BIG hit. She was playing with it again before school this morning. That made everyone in her house really happy.

Bob and Enid, Ian’s mum and dad, bought a fantastic cake decorated with a High School Musical 2 photograph/logo type thingy. Leah loves High School Musical (It is good!) so she loved the cake :) . Ian looks huge next to Leah. In real life he isn’t so triangular. He was cutting the picture off the cake for the birthday girl.

Leah thought the cake was very tasty! I think she had had too much to drink because she came over all affectionate. Wait. No. That was me! Anyway she did give her mum a nice big hug. Aaaaw.

Rather a lot of alcohol for a 9 year olds’ party don’t you think? We had vouchers – a free bottle for every two meals. I think Leah had a good time. I asked her what she thought of being 9. I love her face while she was thinging about it.

Nativity tree decorations :-)

Above are the pictures leah drew. Below are the finished decorations. Leah just has to write her name on all 13 peices. I’m pleased with how they turned out but mostly I’m really impressed with the initial drawings. Clever girl is Leah!

Leah just popped round. A happy distraction from study! She got a merit for the Ancient Egypt project (a couple of posts down) and I say well deserved!!!

Good for you Leah.

Sorry the pictures a bit blurry.

And sorry for the dust on the mirror :p

Ancient Egypt

Leah is working on a fantastic project for school. She was showing me it last night. It’s all about Egyptian Pharoahs. I learned:

1) Some pharoahs were girls

2) One pharoah took power at 9 but died at 18

3) A sarcophagus is the tomb where the mummified dead bloke or girl is put in with stuff they need in the underworld/afterlife. And it’s protected with spells

4) They wore kohl on their eyes but I can’t remember why

5) They wrote in hieroglyphics which is like pictures. You can find out what your name would look like here.

Anyway, I think her project is fab and the teacher will enjoy reading it. I did :)
