Snooping round an 8 year old’s bedroom

I made the horse picture a couple of years ago. Took me loads longer than I thought it would! I like it though. I made the fabric heart decoration aswell. The white gorilla was mine. I’ve got a feeling Jeanette bought it for me when I was about 15 (nearly 20 years ago). I’m amazed at how clean and white it still is!! How pink and girly is all this?!! How very ‘8 year old girl’!

Gee up Neddy…

When Leah was 8, me and Em sponsored her a horse. She kind of likes them, wants to be a vet, you get the picture. I made her a top which I couldn’t find whilst sneaking round her room yesterday! I also made Neddy. I’m very proud of Neddy. And when you have a badge maker you really do need to take every opportunity to use it

Me and Enisa share our birthday. For years we’ve spent at least the evening together. When I was 31 and she was 13, we went out to Tarsus for a meal. Leah was 4. I didn’t want her to feel left out with both me and Enisa having presents. So I made her this:

And wrapped it for her. The arms and legs move freely up and down and the eyes are (non-matching) buttons.

I thought she’d like it but I didn’t realise how much! Charlotte got slept with, dribbled on, hugged (and probably trumped on) for a good year or so. Her arm started to hang off a bit and had to be reinforced.

Leah’s grown up a lot since then and Charlotte’s been ‘archived’ for the time being

Before Leah was born…

 I was very excited. I don’t know how it started but we referred to this unborn boy or girl as norman. When I was on holiday at Clarach Bay I painted a stone from the beach for Norman! The stone now lives in 8 year old Norman’s bedside drawer I love Norman!
